MPM Position Description for Date Specific Opportunities
PURPOSE: Assist the general public attending these events with educational and hospitality needs.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to interact with the general public (children through adults). Ability to follow through on verbal and written instructions from the event coordinator. Willingness to assist visitors with their needs related to the event. Willingness to communicate with and work with other volunteers.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Varies by event. Duties may include (but are not limited to) welcoming visitors and helping with registration; assisting children with activities and/or crafts and replenishing supplies; being responsible for moving small groups of people from one station to another.
HOURS and AVAILABILITY / MINIMUM COMMITMENT REQUIRED: Work the entire shift of the event for one date. Some events have multiple dates. Specific dates are listed on the MPM website, volunteer page, and the Volunteer Center's website. Events are:Overnights – six Friday nights: 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
Scout workshops – six Saturdays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Collectors Weekend – one Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Halloween Hauntings – one Thursday and Friday: 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
Food & Froth (must be 21), one Saturday: 5:00 pm -10:00 pm.
TRAINING: Training done by the event coordinator the date of the event.
SUPPORT: The Ask me! Desk Coordinator will be the primary contact, will provide training and continuing support, and will help with the calendar process.
DRESS CODE: Business Casual. Costumes optional for Halloween Hauntings.
CONTACT PERSON: Volunteer Coordinator will conduct interview & orientation to MPM and be your primary contact for this position.
