MPM Position Description for General Administrative/Clerical

PURPOSE:   Assist the department staff person who requested this service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Base - Minimum requirement of high school diploma, experience, and personal interest.
Skills Required - Organizational skills; ability to take oral instruction well, work unsupervised, and ask for clarification. Some departments require phone calls or emailed responses to inquiries.
Computer Skills - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Outlook, if emailing required.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   Varies by department. Duties may include (but are not limited to) organizing projects, recordkeeping, filing, making labels or nametags, conducting internet research, project management, assisting in event preparation, making posters/signs. Record your hours in the volunteer lounge.

HOURS and AVAILABILITY / MINIMUM COMMITMENT REQUIRED:   Two 4 hour shifts per month Monday through Friday to be arranged with the department contact person. Notification if absent for a scheduled shift.

TRAINING:   Training supplied by department contact person.

SUPPORT:   Casual. Jeans OK when working behind the scenes.

DRESS CODE:   Casual. Jeans OK when working behind the scenes.

CONTACT PERSON:   Volunteer Coordinator will conduct interview & orientation to MPM. The department contact person will also interview you to determine your fit with the department need. Then the department contact person will train you, set up your volunteer schedule, and be your primary contact for this position.
