Geology is the study of the Earth. Early Museum geologists collected a variety of fossils, minerals, and rocks to present and preserve a broad picture of Earth's materials and processes.

Active research and collecting by present-day Museum Geology staff includes the study of sedimentary rocks and environments, ancient marine communities, and the extinction of dinosaurs.
