Early Learning Experiences
These one hour programs will immerse children ages 2 1/2 - 6 in the exploration of specific topics that you choose. Programs begin in the early learning classroom with opportunities to handle artifacts, then move to the exhibit area for a tour and return to the classroom for age-appropriate learning activities. Available Tuesday-Friday. Early Learning programs require a minimum of one adult teacher / chaperone (18+ years) for every five students. Minimum 10 students per program; maximum 25. Early Learning groups will meet their educator at the bottom of the Grand Staircase on the Ground floor.

- AMERICAN INDIANS
- Discover the Americas of yesterday and today with a visit to the Plains, North Woods, Southwest and Pacific Northwest and the people who first lived there.
- COLORS OF THE RAIN FOREST
- Trek the tropical rainforest and discover the many unusual plants and animals that live in this exotic world.
- FLUTTER BY, BUTTERFLY
- Discover “metamorphosis” through the life cycle of a butterfly. Tour the Puelicher Butterfly Wing to see hundreds of tropical butterflies in action.
- INVESTIGATION INSECTS
- Explore the world of some of the oldest living creatures on earth. Hold some of these live insects in the palm of you hand!
- OCEAN LIFE
- Come along as we explore the fascinating world of ocean animals. Compare shells, and learn how plants and animals change as we enter the depths of the deep blue sea.
- POLAR ADVENTURE
- Chill out as we travel into the northern-most regions on Earth. See, listen and feel what life would be like for you living in the Arctic.
- SAVANNA SAFARIS
- With our binoculars ready we will view the animals and people who dwell across the large and diverse continent of Africa. Explore the different environments and how people and animals adapt.
- STAR STORIES
- This program will introduce children to the solar system through a hands-on activity exploring planet order and size relation. Groups will venture through exhibits for cultural storytelling of constellations and the night sky.
- WALKING WITH THE DINOSAURS
- Excavate the Earth and learn about life more than 65 million years ago. Stand eye-to-eye with the dinosaurs and handle dinosaur bones and fossils.
- WISCONSIN WOODLAND WONDERS
- Hike through the woods of Wisconsin as we search out our feathered and furry friends. We will travel to the Horicon Marsh and encounter beavers and bears along the way.
