Milwaukee Goes Wild with the Big Read

Join the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Central Milwaukee Public Library and other community partners as we Go Wild for the Big Read. The Milwaukee Big Read project will encourage readers of all ages to read, discuss and explore Jack London’s book “The Call of the Wild.” Set just before the turn of the century during the height of the Yukon Gold Rush, London leads his readers through the life and times of Buck, a St. Bernard / Scotch shepherd mix who is stolen from his home in California, only to become the leader of a sled dog team in the wilds of Alaska.

Explore “The Call of the Wild” through free books, free teachers guides, reader guides and hands-on activities, and free field trips to the Museum and Library! Big Read programming will run from September 2009–May 2010, with a special focus from February 15 through March 19, 2010.
