Dr. Patrick Slane: “Because the World is Round”

Senior Astrophysicist, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
Lecture will take place at the Daniel M. Soref Planetarium
7pm, Thursday, November 19
Reservations required, seating is limited.
Join Dr. Patrick Slane for the lecture "Because the World is Round," a melding of the left and right sides of the brain to combine the music of astrophysics with the beauty and clarity of The Beatles. Dr. Slane’s research centers on high energy astrophysics, with particular concentration on the aftermath of massive stellar explosions. In addition, Dr. Slane is an unabashed life-long fan of The Beatles, logging countless hours enjoying their music, and twice walking the streets of Liverpool to absorb the humble environment that gave birth to the band. He’ll show you how the song “Because,” by The Beatles, has a profound basis in physics and astronomy.
