The MPM will be presenting several events in conjunction with Messenger of Friendship: The Adventures of Miss Kasumi Tsukuba

Exhibit Opening

November 3, 2007

In order to properly welcome Miss Kasumi Tsukuba back home to the MPM, we will be celebrating with a welcoming party.

Visitors to this event can:

  • Listen to Museum storytellers as they recount her story
  • Make paper dolls to take home as keepsakes
  • View the amazing collections of local doll experts in the Streets of Old Milwaukee
  • Chat with Museum docents and view our Asian Exhibits on the third floor

 

All Miss Kasumi Tsukuba’s opening day events are free with admission.

Messengers of Friendship Tea with Miss Ibaraki, Sisters and Friends

In celebration of Miss Kasumi Tsukuba’s homecoming, the MPM is hosting a “Messengers of Friendship Tea with Miss Ibaraki, Sisters and Friends.”

Guests at the Tea will:

  • Enjoy an elegant setting of china and linens in the MPM’s Garden Gallery during an afternoon of tea, pastry and friendship.
  • Visit two exceptional MPM galleries, Streets of Old Milwaukee and Asian Exhibits, where doll experts will be on hand to answer questions and discuss special displays.
  • Witness the reunion of four sister Japanese Friendship Dolls after 80 years of separation via a “live” video broadcast.
  • Meet the MPM Friendship Doll, Miss Ibaraki, by attending a personal showing and opportunity to talk with curator Albert Muchka about the doll and her recent trip to Japan.
  • Create a Japanese Paper Doll to treasure forever in remembrance of this special day with friends.
