2008 Bloom

The Museum's Corpse flower, Neilson, bloomed on Monday, November 10, 2008. The flower began emitting an odor in early morning which filled the butterfly vivarium by 7am and eventually spread throughout several floors of the museum. The spathe was fully unfurled by late morning and the flower stayed open throughout the day and into the night. The flower closed in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 11.
