Daniel M. Soref Planetarium
Embark on cosmic adventures in one of the most technologically advanced planetariums in the world! Cutting-edge video projection technology showcases full-color re-creations of the night sky, and transports viewers deep into space to fly through the rings of Saturn and zoom into distant galaxies.

Guided Exhibit Tours
The museum will come alive when you embark on special docent-guided tours through your favorite exhibits and dioramas.
Average length of tour: 1 hour
Availability: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Two weeks advance reservations and payment required)

Tour selections:
  • European Village

    Learn about European history and culture, the immigration movement, and the cottage industry of 1875-1925 as you view 33 ethnic homes and shops. (Holiday Traditions will be the focus of tours given after Thanksgiving through mid-January.)
  • Native American Indian Overview

    The lifestyles of four different Indian tribes will be compared in this tour, emphasizing such factors as the importance of the buffalo to the plains Indians and how dry, desert conditions shaped the lives of the tribes of the Southwest. Explore how American Indians adapted their diet, shelter and clothing to their environment.
  • Museum Highlights

    Permanent exhibits from all three floors of the Museum can be highlighted on this tour. Options include Streets of Old Milwaukee, European Village, Rainforest, Dinosaurs, Native American Indians, Africa, Arctic or Living Oceans. The docent will focus the tour on your special interest or on the exhibits of his/her choosing.
  • Streets of Old Milwaukee

    Learn what it was like to live in Milwaukee at the turn of the century. See rug beaters, kerosene lamps, a buggy whip and the popular styles worn when going to the Nickelodeon Theater. Stop at the General Store and find the "holey" straw hats that could be worn by horses.
