Explore the Museum's latest special exhibit during the Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed Member Preview.

Discover how the Maya created one of the great civilizations of the ancient world and developed advanced writing, mathematics, timekeeping, and cosmology.

The exhibition uses hundreds of never-before-seen artifacts, immersive environments, multimedia components, and hands-on activities to explore the rise and eventual decline of this fascinating ancient culture.

Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed features:
• Stones elaborately carved in Maya hieroglyphics
• An interactive timeline of glyph decipherment
• Carved monuments from Copan, Quirigua, and other sites
• A name glyph generator allowing you to title yourself, Maya style
• A calendar translator letting you map important dates in our time to the cycles of Maya time
• A replica of the frieze from the El Castillo pyramid
• A Maya ballgame ball you can pick up
• Home artisan produced-objects like a shell hat and beautiful weavings
• A touch table allowing you to digitally explore a royal tomb
• Interviews with modern Maya people on enduring cultural practices
