1.00 Admission Benefits


1.01 Which membership level is right for me?
Identification with a valid membership card required for admission into the Museum.

Individual is for 1 adult. There are no guest privileges associated with this level.

Dual is for up to two adults living at the same address or an individual who usually brings a friend.

Pathfinder is for up to two adults living at the same address and their children or grandchildren 17 years old and under. Either person can use the card independently, bringing with them one other adult and the cardholder's children or grandchildren, OR two guests.

Pathfinder Plus is for up to two adults living at the same address who have:

  • Extended family members (grandparents, grown children) or friends who accompany them to the Museum.
  • Caregivers, such as babysitters, who bring their children.
  • Children's friends who accompany them to the Museum.

1.02 Can my children visit the Museum without me being present?
The Milwaukee Public Museum recommends children ages 15 and under be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170 with any concerns.

1.03 Can I use my membership card at other museums? Which museums?
Yes, all over the world! A list of museums will be enclosed with your membership cards. You can also download a current list. Be sure to bring your Membership card or a temporary pass to the museum you are visiting. The list is updated twice a year. For specific information on which museums are covered, call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170 or e-mail us at MuseumNews@mpm.edu.

Please note that after May 1, 2006 Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, Children's Museum - Navy Pier and Notebaert Nature Museum will no longer be reciprocating with the Milwaukee Public Museum. MPM Members will, however, receive 50 percent off museum admission at these museums. According to Association of Science and Technology Center's guidelines, museums within a 90 mile radius of MPM have the right to exclude themselves from reciprocal agreement with MPM.


2.00 Membership Renewal


2.01 How will I know when my membership expires?
The expiration date on your membership card is printed on the front, above your address and membership level. A renewal notice will be sent at least three months prior to when your membership expires. You can also renew online instantly. If your membership is expiring and you have not received a renewal notice, please contact the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170.

2.02 Can I renew a gift membership I purchased? How will I know when it expires?
When you purchase a gift membership, be sure to indicate whether you would like future renewal notices sent to you or to the recipient of the gift membership. If you request the renewal notice be sent to the recipient, you can still renew the membership for them by calling the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170. If you requested the renewal notice be mailed to you, a notice will be sent three months prior to the membership expiring.


3.00 Membership Cards


3.01 How long will it take for my new cards to arrive?
Up to three weeks after purchase. Feel free to call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170 if your cards take longer than indicated to reach you. You can always visit without your cards--just stop at the Membership Services Desk and obtain a temporary pass.

3.02 Can I use my membership without my cards? How?
You can use your membership immediately after you purchase it. If you Order a Membership Online, a confirmation page will appear for you to print out and use as a temporary pass. If you purchased it outside of the Museum, call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170 to obtain a temporary pass. If you purchased your membership at the Museum go directly to the Membership Services Desk, located on the Ground Floor to obtain a temporary membership pass.

3.03 What if I lose my membership cards?
Contact the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170. A $3 handling fee is required to replace lost cards.

3.04 What if there is a mistake on my card?

4.00 Membership Benefits


4.01 Where do members park when they come to the Museum? Do evening hours apply?
Members can park at the MacArthur Square Garage, located off of James Lovell Street (7th Street), seven days a week, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Bring your parking ticket in to be validated at the Membership Services Desk. The cost is $5 for the day. In the evening, your discount applies only during members-only events.

4.02 Member Parking Benefit
We are pleased to be able to offer members exclusive parking privileges in the adjacent MacArthur Square parking garage. Per the Museum's contract with MacArthur Square, members are allowed a discounted rate in the garage while visiting the Museum. The discounted rate is only available to members at the time of their visit to the Museum. We appreciate your adherence to this policy as it ensures the Museum will be allowed to continue offering this valuable benefit to our members. If you have questions or concerns regarding your parking benefits, please contact Stacey Meeks, Membership Manager, at (414) 278-6126.

4.03 Does my membership discount apply to all Museum Shops?
Yes, bring your membership card with you whenever you visit a Museum shop for your 10 percent discount. Also, look for seasonal shop openings in Wings newsletters. Your discount applies to those as well.

4.04 Can I give my free Humphrey IMAX® Dome Theater/Daniel M. Soref Planetarium tickets to other people?
The free IMAX®/Planetarium tickets you receive upon purchasing your membership can only be used by you and everyone covered under your membership. Please call the Membership Office, (414) 278-6170, if you have any questions.

4.05 What if I lose my free IMAX®/Planetarium tickets can I replace them?
The free IMAX®/Planetarium tickets you receive upon purchasing your membership cannot be replaced. You can always use your IMAX®/Planetarium discount when purchasing tickets.

4.06 Can I replace my free IMAX®/Planetarium tickets if they expired?
We're sorry, expired IMAX®/Planetarium tickets cannot be replaced or exchanged.

4.07 What is the Clue Crew Kids Club?
A fun way to turn your Museum visit into a family adventure! Take a scavenger hunt throughout the Museum's exhibit halls for clues to solve mysterious cases, and discover amazing facts about our world. To start a Clue Crew adventure, stop by the Membership Services Desk on your next visit to the Museum. It's a benefit FREE to all members!!!

4.08 Is my membership tax deductible?
Your contributions are tax-deductible less the fair market value of any benefits you receive. The value of IMAX®/planetarium tickets is $5 each and is not tax-deductible. If you are not sure how much you have given in a tax year or if you would like a receipt of your payments, please call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170 or e-mail MuseumNews@mpm.edu.

4.09 Where can I get my wristbands, tickets, parking validation, and clue crew case sheets when I visit?
As a member, you can get everything you need at Member Services located in the concourse. Member Services is open from 10am-2pm daily. All services are available at the Tickets Windows when Member Services is closed.


5.00 Membership Mailings and Events


5.01 How do I change my mailing address?

5.02 How can I make sure I'm not missing any membership mailings or members-only events?
Invitations are mailed to members four weeks prior to the event. Our quarterly newsletter, Wings, publishes all upcoming Museum and members-only events. You can also subscribe to the monthly eNewsletter by e-mailing MuseumNews@mpm.edu or calling the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170. Check out our Museum Events Calendar and Members-only Events Calendar. If you are not receiving any membership mailings, call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170.

5.03 How do I unsubscribe from any Museum mailings?

5.04 How do I make or change a reservation to a members-only or Museum event? How far in advance can I make a reservation?
Call the Membership Hotline at (414) 278-6170. You can reserve as soon as you see the event published in Wings or the eNewsletter, or when you receive the invitation in the mail.

5.05 How do I subscribe to the FREE monthly eNewsletter?
E-mail MuseumNews@mpm.edu or call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170. The eNewsletter is sent once a month, around the middle of the month, to current Museum members. To be removed from the mailing list, please reply to an eNewsletter with the subject “REMOVE” or call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170.


6.00 Upgrading Membership


6.01 How do I upgrade my membership?
You are welcome to upgrade at any point during your membership, from any level to any level. Membership benefits increase as you go up. You can upgrade online or call the Membership Office at (414) 278-6170.

6.02 How much does upgrading cost?
The cost to upgrade is the level you wish to upgrade to minus your current level cost. There are no additional fees to upgrade your membership.

6.03 When will my membership expire if I upgrade?
Your upgraded membership will expire the same time as your original membership. Upgrading does not extend your membership.
