Who are digitization volunteers?
Digitization volunteers photograph and record our collections to help us build upon the information we have in our museum database. Volunteers will work in two-person teams photographing specimens. The two person teams will consist of a specimen handler, who prepares the specimens for photography, and the specimen digitizer, who inputs label data and photographs the specimen.
Why is this job important?
By creating or adding to our digital records of objects, specimens, and their associated information, we help preserve the legacy of scientific research and collecting here at MPM. These records are used as we care for the collections, and they give us greater opportunities to share our collections with scientists, researchers, and our community.
