South & Middle America

Experience the vibrant cultures of Latin America on the Museum's third floor. Verdant jungles and dusty villages await your arrival. Travel at your own pace as you stroll through the markets of Guatemala, to see how the Maya Indian villagers of the southern highlands visited the market for staple items such as beans, corn, chili peppers, rice, and bananas. A moment, the mid 20th century, is frozen in time - the women are depicted in traditional clothing rarely seen in present times due to the influence of the modern world on the Indian's culture.
