Scout Workshops

Scout groups of all ages will find many opportunities to spend a day of discovery at MPM, and we are happy to work with troop leaders to determine how a program may fit in with their group’s achievement plan, and to help their troops earn badge/pin requirements.

 

Cost for Scout Groups:
  • $8 per scout group rate price for admission
  • plus $7 per scout for workshop
  • $15 total per scout

Includes all exhibits and a Planetarium program.

Girl Scouts

Brownies- Bugs Badge Workshop
Your Brownie Girl Scouts can complete their entire Bugs badge through the Milwaukee Public Museum’s Scout Workshops! Join our trained educators as we visit our Bugs Alive! exhibit, learn about bug body parts, watch bugs in action, and discover chrysalides in our Puelicher Butterfly Vivarium. This workshop helps meet each requirement for the Bugs badge for Brownie Girl Scouts.
Juniors- Jeweler Badge Workshop
Your Junior Girl Scouts can complete their entire Jeweler badge through the Milwaukee Public Museum’s Scout Workshops! Join our trained educators as we visit jewelry exhibits, make stone pendants, tell stories with wampum belt jewelry, and discover jewelry of other cultures. This workshop helps meet each requirement for the Jeweler badge for Junior Girl Scouts.

Cub Scouts

Wolf– Digging in the Past Badge
Your Wolf Scouts can complete their entire Digging in the Past Adventure through the Milwaukee Public Museum’s Scout Workshops! Join our trained educators as we prepare fossil casts, deposit fossil layers, imagine our own dinosaurs, and discover the world of paleontology. This workshop helps meet each requirement for the Digging in the Past Adventure for Wolf Scouts.
Webelos– Earth Rocks!
Your Webelos Scouts can complete their entire Earth Rock! Adventure through the Milwaukee Public Museum’s Scout Workshops! Trained education staff will work with your junior geologists in discovering the secrets of rocks, minerals, and fossils throughout the world and our own backyards. This workshop helps meet each requirement for the Earth Rocks! Adventure for Webelos Scouts.

Nova Award: Science Everywhere

Interested in completing part of your Nova Award with the Milwaukee Public Museum? Book one of our Wolf or Webelos Workshops along with a Planetarium or Dome Theater show, and you’re well on your way to finishing the Science Everywhere module. Be sure you let us know you’re working on your Nova Award, so we can customize your workshop!

MPM Overnights
During MPM's exciting sleepovers, you'll experience the Museum under the cover of darkness. Get a deeper look into one of the Museum's great exhibits or the theme of the evening through hands-on activities with MPM educators. Catch a thrilling Planetarium show in our six-story dome theater, then guide your group through exhibits on a flashlight exploration. Finally, you'll be ready to "bed-down" for a night of rest in select exhibit areas.  Registration is available online through our Overnights page.

Wisconsin Skies Planetarium Show
These group shows are great for young stargazers, scouts and anyone interested in the universe. Wisconsin Skies lasts from 40 to 70 minutes (depending on which version your group chooses). Call 414-319-4629 to register and check for program availability.
