What is a Curiosity Circle?
"Curiosity Circle" is a facilitated dialogue meant to respectfully and productively address sensitive topics.  The dialogues are facilitated by well-trained staff from the Zeidler Center for Public Discussion.

What will I be doing if I attend a Curiosity Circle?
When you attend, you’ll explore the topic of discussion alongside the other participants. Zeidler staff will assign you to a small-group circle with other randomly assigned participants.  The Zeidler Center facilitator will invite you to share your reaction to the topic of the evening and listen to other people’s reactions in go-arounds followed by open conversation.  Everyone will have an equal amount of time to respond to the questions.  Participants will reflect on their own reactions rather than debating the reactions of others.

Will I be expected to talk?  Can I choose to stay quiet at times?
You are encouraged to share your experiences, but you have the option to pass your turn.  Listening to the diverse experiences of others is important, too!

Some topics are controversial and generate strong opinions.  Will anyone yell at me?
No.  Zeidler Center facilitators are trained specifically to foster constructive dialogue and prevent confrontations.  Curiosity Circles are about discovery, not debate.

Who is the Zeidler Center for Public Discussion?
The Zeidler Center for Public Discussion is a well-respected, local non-profit that has worked with a variety of communities and clients.  You can read more about their mission, history, and process at

 Will there be refreshments?
Yes!  We’ll be providing light refreshments.

Where can I park?
Limited street parking is available in the vicinity of the Milwaukee Public Museum.  Participants are also able to pay for parking in the Mac Arthur Square parking structure, which you can access at 841 North  James Lovell Street.
