Starr Summer Paid Internship
The Milwaukee Public Museum is excited to offer paid internship positions for high school seniors in select departments this summer. The internships, funded through Betty L. and M. Kenneth Starr Adventure Fund, will provide two or three students with an opportunity to learn from the expert staff in a “hands-on” capacity. The internships are designed to offer students a broad-based experience working in a professional environment and to stimulate interest in possible careers in the museum field and/or biological or cultural sciences. Candidates must have a serious interest in one of the areas below:
Anthropology: Work closely with a Museum curator to assist with collections maintenance and document of cultural collections.
Education Department: Support MPM’s volunteer program through your writing and editing skills by reviewing manuals for scripts and tours.
Botany Department: Help collect data for scientific research aimed at discovery of new species and description of tropical plant diversity.
Internships start in June and run through August, and offer a salary of $7.50 per hour for up to 19 hours a week for 8 weeks. Interns must complete a minimum of 80 hours throughout the summer.
Application deadline is Friday, April 6, 2018.
