Can I only visit the Museum at a specific time?
Advanced purchasing online will be recommended for a touchless admission experience. Visitors will be able to visit mpm.edu for reservations. Please enter during the day indicated on your ticket.
Is my visit to the Museum limited to a specific number of hours?
Capacity will be based on an expected two-hour visit duration, but visitors will not be required to exit at any particular time.
What are the daily hours the Museum is open?
Initial hours of public access will be Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What if I buy a ticket but then am unable to visit at my specified date/time?
Ticket refunds are not permitted, but exchanges for another date may be issued under certain conditions. For assistance, please contact our Call Center at 414-278-2728.
How do I enter and exit the Museum?
Visitors may enter the MPM building through MPM’s main Wells Street entry doors at 800 West Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI, or through the MacArthur Square parking structure. The James Lovell Street entrance remains closed.
What if I come to MPM without having bought a ticket online?
Visitors who do not wish to pre-purchase their tickets will need to visit a dedicated, walk-up Museum Admissions window. Tickets will be subject to availability and are NOT guaranteed. Purchases must be made via debit/credit card; no cash will be accepted. For assistance, please contact our Call Center at 414-278-2728.
What if I’m feeling ill before my scheduled visit?
If you are feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms, please stay home.
What can I expect upon arrival?
Visitors will have tickets scanned upon entry. To avoid additional contact between visitors and the staff, wristbands will not be used at this time. Entry to the Museum building is one-time only; visitors cannot exit and return.

Which parts of the Museum are open right now?
Areas and exhibits not listed above are currently open to the public. The Puelicher Butterfly Wing is currently closed due to repairs. Please note access to the Museum building will be one-time only. Once admitted, visitors will not be able to leave and re-enter.
Should I bring anything with me?
A mask which covers the mouth and nose is required to be worn by all visitors ages three and over. Persons with disabilities or medical conditions that prevent wearing a mask are exempt from this requirement.
Can I purchase food?
Our Café and Haymarket are closed at this time.
Can I bring in my own food?
Visitors may bring their own food and drink to be eaten in a designated section of the Cafe. Masks do not need to be worn if seated and eating. MPM cannot store food or coolers on visitors’ behalf. Please note that exiting to your vehicle and re-entering the Museum building is not permitted at this time.
Will the gift shop be open?
Our Museum Marketplace is now open during regular Museum operating hours! Visitors must purchase admission to access the Marketplace due to our current COVID-19 procedures. Access to the Marketplace is available at the end of your visit due to one-way paths, timing, and distancing. Please note no cash is currently being accepted. The Haymarket Store remains closed; however, select candies will be sold in our Marketplace.
Can I bring in my own stroller/wheelchair?
Yes, you may bring your own stroller or wheelchair; the Museum cannot provide strollers at this time. We recommend umbrella-style strollers. Please note strollers may result in longer wait times for elevators.
Will the restrooms/Sensory Room/nursing pod be open?
Yes, however they will not be cleaned between each use.
Do I have to wear a mask?
A mask which covers the mouth and nose is required to be worn by all visitors ages three and over. Visitors who do not comply with this requirement will have a friendly reminder from Museum staff. What if I forget to bring a mask?
A limited amount of facemasks will be on-hand and offered to visitors free of charge if they do not have their own mask to comply with the requirement.
What if I can’t wear a mask due to health reasons?
Persons with disabilities or medical conditions are exempt from this requirement.
Is hand sanitizer available for visitors?
Yes, hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the Museum, and we request visitors please avoid touching surfaces.
How will high-touch areas be cleaned?
Our professional cleaning team is on-site during Museum operating hours to sanitize and clean the restrooms, lunchroom, common areas, and exhibit galleries, including frequent cleaning of surfaces that hands touch to reduce the spread of germs (i.e. door knobs, light switches, handles, etc.). Deep cleaning takes place when the Museum is closed. The floors are mopped and vacuumed, restrooms are cleaned, and all surfaces are sanitized.
How is social distancing being handled/enforced?
Visitors are encouraged to please maintain six-foot social distancing between family groups during their visit, at their personal discretion. Elevators will be limited to two persons or single family groups only.
What if I need medical attention during my visit?
Our Visitor Services staff will call our MPM Security for assistance. As a precaution, the visitor may be taken to the MPM Shipping/Receiving Area to await medical assistance if exhibiting symptoms that may be associated with COVID-19.
Will you extend my membership to make up for the time you’ve been closed?
Yes, memberships will be extended to offset closure.
