Celebración Latina: Cultivating Raíces (Roots)

Join us as we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring the multiethnic raíces (roots) of Hispanic heritage. Enjoy special Afro-Latin and Carribean dance performances, and learn about the Museum's diverse collections items from Latin America through hands-on activities.
Halloween in the Streets

Enjoy old time frights and festive fall sights in the Streets of Old Milwaukee, where replica turn-of-the-century Halloween decorations, vintage Museum collections items, and seasonal props have been added to several of the businesses and homes.

Ofrenda display for Día de los Muertos
October 13 - November 11, 2025
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican celebration, is a day to celebrate and remember those who have departed. Visit our First Floor to view an authentic display of a traditional ofrenda (altar) and learn more about this pre-Hispanic tradition.
Indigenous Peoples' Day
Monday, October 13, 2025
Celebrates Indigenous Peoples' Day with special drum performances featuring powwow dances as well as rhythms native to the Aztecs. MPM Educators will also be on the exhibit floors to engage visitors in learning opportunities about Indigenous cultures, traditions, and history.
Beyond Binaries: LGBTQ+ Histories through Time and Place
October 16 & October 23, 2025
Go on a 45-minute journey through the exhibits to explore the ways people have lived beyond the binary throughout time and space. For ages 15+.

Trick or Streets (21+)

7-9:30 p.m.
Experience a haunting night in the Streets of Old Milwaukee and European Village during this 21+ Halloween event. Learn about the origins of the holiday, enjoy a classic Halloween flick in the vintage Nickelodeon theater, take a flashlight tour of the Third Floor, sip on spirits from the cash bar, and much more. Costumes encouraged!

3 Rivers Powwow

Join us as we kick off Native American Heritage Month with a powwow at MPM celebrating Indigenous cultures through song and dance. The event will also include an artisan fair, resource tables, and Indigenous cuisine. The powwow is FREE and open to all (you don't have to be Native American to attend).

First Thursday of every month
All visitors (excluding groups) receive FREE admission to MPM's exhibits on the first Thursday of every month thanks to generous support from Kohl's Cares.

Ongoing Programs and Initiatives
Science on Tap
Grab a brew (or root-brew!) and meet us at the Museum or online to listen to a lecture from some of the best minds in natural and cultural sciences. Lectures are scheduled every couple of months.
Summer Connections
MPM's annual summer initiative provides free, educational programming and access to the Museum for K-8 students throughout Milwaukee in coordination with community partners.
Wisconsin Statewide Community Science Project
This community-based initiative seeks to make science accessible to a broader audience throughout Wisconsin, even nationally, so the public can feel trust towards science by participating directly in it. The data is then used for future research.
MPM Book Club
A volunteer-led monthly program that invites interested adults to join lively monthly discussions about nonfiction books of a scientific nature that relate to Museum exhibits, research, or programs.
