Calling all students and students at heart: Dig into Wisconsin Science Fest at the Milwaukee Public Museum!
On October 16 and 24, 2025, MPM Educators will let you be a paleontologist for the day as we highlight available school programming with hands-on learning, plenty of fossils, and even more fun. Programming is open to all visitors, not just school groups.
Field trips from September to November are FREE for all Milwaukee County Schools. Science Fest programming is available from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at no additional cost.
SCIENCE FEST DAYS
Museum Academies: Stream Table Investigation
Join us as we think like civil engineers in this hands-on water simulation. We will see the effects of water erosion and learn the importance of soil conditions.
Museum Academies is a 50-minute classroom style program where MPM Educators provide hands-on STEM experiences about a variety of topics for middle and high school students. Funding for Museum Academies is generously provided by PPG. Add a Museum Academies program to your group's visit today at no additional cost!
Reserve an Educator: Time Travel
What did life look like long ago? Take a close look at what roamed the Earth throughout some of its many eras while engaging with our The Third Planet exhibit.
Reserve an Educator is MPM’s informal, drop-in engagement where students can work in small groups directly with a Museum professional. This program works with you before your visit to best enhance your time here and support your classroom plans. Add a Reserve an Educator program to your group's visit at no additional cost!
Shell Sorters
What does the day-to-day work of a paleontologist look like? Find out yourself by learning about what fossils teach us as YOU do the work to further scientific research and understanding!
Shell Sorters is part of a National Science Foundation grant supporting MPM Paleontologist Jon Hendrick’s research. Sorted fossils will become part of MPMs permanent collections where they will help Jon and future paleontologists understand more about the world around us!
