SPARK! programs are offered at 1 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month, see the 2024 dates listed below. There is a 30-minute coffee social before each program at 12:30 p.m. for participants to become comfortable and socialize with peers before we begin. Care Partners are welcome to stay and enjoy the Museum after the program. Street parking is FREE on Sundays.

Space is limited and reservations are required three days in advance by calling 414-278-2714.

Upcoming Programs

February 18 – Chocolate: Origins – The rainforest is home to millions of different species, but did you know that it is also the original home for chocolate? Theobroma cacao, the tree that produces the seeds needed to make chocolate, is native to Central and South America. We will explore the early stages of the chocolate-making process and understand the conditions needed to harvest the cacao seeds.

March 17 – Meet the Instrument Families: Percussion – Many cultures around the world developed percussive instruments. Listen to what makes these instruments special and how different cultures influenced each other.

April 21 – Animals of Wisconsin – Although we call Wisconsin home, so do many other animal species!  Let’s be good neighbors and learn about the different animals we might see in lakes, forests, and even our own backyard.

May 19 – Chocolate: Cultivating Cacao – Chocolate is a favorite sweet treat for many people, but in its purest form it tastes extremely bitter! Learn about the different ways people first consumed chocolate and how the relationship between humans and chocolate first began. This program comes with FREE smells!

June 16 – Reefs of Old Milwaukee – What did Milwaukee look like 425 million years ago? How do we know what we know? Step back in time as we explore the Silurian period, the prominent reefs important to our history, and use fossil evidence to learn about our ancient past.
