These handy booklets feature images, illustrations, and trivia to help guide your family through the galleries—and create a new experience each time you visit! Clue Crew guides are designed for children age 6-12, but members of any age are welcome to participate.

The Milwaukee Public Museum Herbarium (MIL) supports and encourages the use of the collections for research, educational, and exhibition purposes. Any reasonable and appropriate request for access is considered. Given the significance and sensitivity of the collections access, publication, and other uses of the herbarium’s collections and related documentation are governed by the following guidelines:

The Library is open to researchers by appointment only. Those wishing to use the Library facilities must make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance of their visit.
The oldest specimens date back to the 1840s, but most activity associated with vertebrates started in the 1870s. With the exception of the bird collection and a portion of the fish collection, vertebrates are housed on the Sixth Floor of the Museum. Besides collection areas, a lab area for specimen processing and examination is situated adjacent to the herpetology range.
