Green Roof, Solar Wall, & Courtyard
In October 2011, a green roof was installed on the tallest section of the Museum building.
In October 2014, our enormous five-story solar wall went "live."
Ask Me! Desk Volunteer
What does the Ask Me! Desk volunteer do?
Located at a desk positioned at the top of the grand staircase on the first floor, the Ask Me! Desk volunteer interacts with visitors seeking information. Questions may range from the location of the lunch room or specific exhibits, to more in-depth questions. This is a great opportunity to engage with visitors, even if it is just to say “hello,” or “can I help you with anything today.”
Lunar Eclipse
Bundle up and visit us on Sunday, January 20 in downtown Milwaukee to view the lunar eclipse!
Planetarium Director Bob Bonadurer will have telescopes set up to view the heavenly show by the Green Clock at the intersection of Wells and James Lovell Streets. Clear skies only!
2025 Sky and Space Calendar
Mercury makes its best evening appearances in early March and late June/early July. For morning watchers, the best time to catch the smallest planet is mid-August.
Venus is crazy bright in the evening sky from the start of 2025 until mid-March. It quickly reappears in the morning sky by late March/early April. It remains easily visible in the pre-dawn sky until mid-November.
2024 Solar Eclipse Watch
On Monday, April 8, Milwaukee will see its biggest solar eclipse in 70 years!
MPM is your resource for a safe viewing experience. Visit us or one of the below safe-viewing locations as the moon covers approximately 90% of the sun, clear skies permitting! We’ll have telescopes with special filters as well as eclipse glasses for $2 each (NOTE: Our eclipse viewing glasses are sold out). Cross your fingers for clear skies!
Educational activities will be available in the event of inclement or cloudy weather.
