Discover arctic biodiversity this January.
Under the cover of ice and cold, people, animals and even plants have adapted and evolved over time to survive and even thrive in the cold harsh winters.
We invite you to virtually explore our featured exhibit, The Arctic, and learn about the rich plant and animal diversity in cold weather climates.
Winter Walk Bingo
Take the learning and fun outdoors, even in cold weather! Use our Winter Walk Bingo to take a closer look at how plants and animals stay safe and warm during the cold winter months, and how weather, water, and even our breath changes in the cold.
Language of Snow
Explore the lives of indigenous people of the Arctic region through the many unique words they use to describe types of snow and ice. Get creative and make a list of different words for something special that give family and friends a glimpse into what’s interesting or important in your life.
The plants, animals, and humans who make their homes above the Arctic Circle have adapted to the cold, ice, and snow. Use our Arctic Scavenger Hunt to locate household items that help us to adapt to colder temperatures.

Show us your creations through one of our social media channels or send it to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll share it!

Drop in on Facebook Live, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at noon, for Between Two Specimens, featuring MPM Adjunct Curator of Fishes Dr. Michael J. Pauers. We’ll get an expert perspective from Dr. Pauers on recent journalism from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about whitefish, commercial ice fishing, and how nature, science, and people interact.
MPM Night In
Stay home, put on your dino PJs, and join us for a night in with MPM! During this interactive virtual event, you'll earn interesting and unknown facts from MPM Educators and then put your knowledge to the test. You might think you know about dinosaurs, diseases, and what's really in the rainforest... But do you?
